Subcontractors were on site when SWCH said they would be and the attention to detail with the finished product is far and above all other remodels we have seen.

A project that started off with the owner wanting a fairly simple pool and reclamation of a crawlspace into living space evolved into an incredible family compound within a wonderful neighborhood in the Redmond area.

The architectural wonder of a pool house boasts exposed timber frame beams. The water level of the pool had to be calculated to accommodate the overflow caused by a large number of people entering the pool at once. Massive engineering went into the hydraulics to create a negative edge waterfall that flows from the main pool into a smaller wading area for the kids. The wading area resembles a beach, and the engineering included calculating a surge tank design for excess water storage and a controlled waterfall into the beach area.

To make the waterfall, water flows continually out of the pool, down granite rocks onto the beach, and then into a storage tank. The wading pool was designed to handle a large flow of water out of the pool to maintain the required depth of 4 to 6 inches, and the waterfall had to be designed to regulate the flow into the beach.

The indoor pool also has a large Jacuzzi that can seat 10 people. A large plasma TV is placed about 15 feet off the ground to allow viewing while sitting in the hot tub or pool. Beneath the TV is a small kitchenette.

Outside the pool area is a concrete patio with a full barbeque setup. Beneath the patio is a structural vault housing all of the pool equipment in a soundproof environment, concealing both the sight and sound of the equipment.

The grounds are landscaped with walking trails and fun water features, including a waterfall flowing into a pool and then into two separate creeks cascading down and into another pool at the bottom. These are indeed two separate areas, with the second group of falls and ponds resembling a mountain stream that would have periodic pools and falls. The creeks were designed in such a fashion that they are child-friendly and complete an incredibly friendly and fun environment for children to be both indoors and outdoors. Both the architect and client were very involved at every step of the process, ensuring a unified and satisfying result for all concerned.
